Doing what matters most – building and maintaining safe, healthy, and caring communities for the people who live and work in Verona and Cedar Grove – is what this fund is all about!

Each Spring volunteers from Verona and Cedar Grove meet to determine the agencies and programs that will be funded by United Way of North Essex.  These volunteers consider the United Way priorities - Education, Income & Health, the priorities of the needs in Verona and Cedar Grove, and the ability of the agencies requesting funds to address and solve the problems.  Contributions to this fund are carefully directed to the areas where needs are the greatest and to the agencies and programs that best address and solve those problems.

In 20010/11 Verona-Cedar Grove Fund United Way dollars are supporting the following programs:

• The ARC of Essex County - Exercise & Nutrition program

• COPE Center
  - Alcohol and Drug Treatment and Prevention program
  - Project SAFE (Stress Alleviation and Family Empowerment)
  
• Verona BASES - After-School Enrichment program
• Partners for Women and Justice - mPower Legal Assistance program 
• Medical Transportation for the Elderly & Disabled
